AECOM is actively seeking a creative and motivated Senior Transportation Planner/Engineer for immediate employment in the Austin, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate prior experience and relevant project work in transportation planning, schematic design and engineering for major highway and interstate improvement projects. A solid understanding of urban freeway and interstate geometrics as well as FHWA criteria is necessary. Furthermore, the preferred candidate will have served in a managerial role on a Design Build project and has a good understanding of Alternate Delivery. A culmination of these features makes for an ideal candidate. The position provides the opportunity to manage, lead, and support transportation planning efforts for exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects in Texas.
Work will consist of leading a small specialized Team performing transportation planning and engineering, schematic design, traffic forecasting, traffic impact analysis, traffic simulation modeling, technical reports, project meeting support and other duties as required. Successful candidates will be based out of the Austin office and may from time to time travel during the day or evenings to project sites, client meetings, and other AECOM offices. Successful candidates will be expected to work independently and in teams to advance projects through client processes.
Projects may involve:
Transportation planning for urban freeway and interstate corridors.
Transportation engineering for urban freeway and interstate corridors
Project planning for Alternate Delivery procurement.
Presentations to Clients and Management
Directing and managing staff.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
10+ years' experience
PE registration in Texas or ability to obtain in 6 months.
Experienced in transportation planning and schematic design
Familiar with software such as MicroStation, GeoPak, and InRoads
Able to manage and conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks for traffic related studies from high level master plans to detailed corridor analyses for schematic development
Technical Skills: Urban interchange geometrics, Corridor planning and analysis, Roadway schematic design, report development, good communication skills and technical writing skills
Ability to take increasing responsibilities and desire to grow technical skills and innovations
Previous experience mentoring junior level staff
Valid driver's license
Experience in leading and understanding Design Build delivery.
MicroStation and InRoads abilities.
Experience with the Texas Department of Transportation
Experience with OpenRoads
