Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Bridge Designer Engineer II or III for immediate employment for the Austin, TX office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope for the respective specialty

  • Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements

  • Serve as quality control reviewer

  • Lead, oversee and/or supervise assigned departmental personnel on projects and monitor their individual technical performance, providing guidance and direction, as needed

  • Initiate and complete the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget

  • Keep abreast of new scientific methods and developments in his/her specific field

  • Contribute inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems

  • Take necessary actions to ensure the project proceeds on schedule and within budget limitations

  • Review shop drawings and Requests For Information (RFIs)

  • Implement and follow Company Quality Management System procedures

  • Utilizes Extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures

  • Recognizes limitations in standard technical procedures and seeks creative solutions

Minimum Requirements

Project Bridge Design Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a four - year accredited college or university

  • 2+ years of experience designing bridges in Texas

  • EIT/FE certification

  • Knowledge of AASHTO, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual (LRFD) & TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual

  • Capable of performing basic bridge design tasks and CADD support with guidance

  • Software expertise: MicroStation, Bridge Geometry System (BGS), PGSuper, STAAD-PRO, RCPier, SPCol, LPile

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Positive attitude towards learning and working in a team structure

  • Capable of working and solving problems individually

Project Bridge Design Engineer III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a four - year accredited college or university

  • 5+ years of experience designing bridges in Texas

  • Professional Engineer registered in State of Texas or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

  • Knowledge of AASHTO, ACI, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual (LRFD) & TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual

  • Task leader capable of performing comprehensive range of bridge design tasks independently with general guidance

  • Software expertise: MicroStation, Bridge Geometry System (BGS), PGSuper, MDX, STAAD-PRO, RCPier, SPCol, LPile

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Positive attitude towards learning and working in a team environment

  • Experience managing staff and/or coordinating a team of engineers and designers

  • Experience with both pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Design-Build project experience

  • Experience with Freight Railroad Bridge Design & Railroad Coordination

  • Software expertise: Bentley Project Wise, MDX, CONSPLICE
