Job Summary

The Process Technologies Organization (PTO) of AECOM in Austin, Texas, is seeking a senior electrical engineer to manage and lead the electrical/instrumentation (EIC) engineering team and function as part of PTO’s multi-discipline engineering team to deliver design packages and technical work on assigned projects.

The successful candidate will perform management and leadership responsibilities as well as perform engineering for the design and analysis of electrical and controls equipment in support of projects across multiple industries, including Power, Industrial and Oil and Gas. The successful candidate will be accountable for the completion of assignments to the high standards of AECOM and clients and within budget and schedule.

Typical projects can range in value from $100,000 to $50,000,000 and encompass all project phases, including engineering, procurement and construction.   • Performing independently with limited supervision

  • Supervising a small team EIC engineers (presently less than 5 team members)

  • Assigning EIC engineering staff to projects and proposals and monitoring engineering progress from inception to completion

  • Leading EIC engineering scope development activities

  • Contributing to the development of budgets and schedules for EIC activities

  • Performing design calculations and standard computations including but not limited to power system analysis and electrical equipment sizing.

  • Providing engineering support for the preparation of design drawings to be used for construction.

  • Preparing technical specifications to be used for electrical equipment procurement and construction of EIC engineering scope.

  • Supporting the development of the following:

  • Load Lists

  • Equipment Lists

  • Cable and Conduit Schedules

  • Construction drawing/specification packages to be released to clients and contractors for the purpose of either preparing construction bids or executing construction

  • Direct or indirect project-based management of junior and/or staff-level engineers

  • Executing projects under the direction of a project manager and a project engineer along with the support of other experienced engineers and designers.

  • Collaborating with other engineers and designers on all aspects of assignments.

  • Providing leadership and technical guidance to less experienced technical staff.

  • Performing assignments and tasks that require the application of standard engineering practices, techniques, and criteria.

  • Periodic travel to project sites and equipment vendor manufacturing facilities to assess existing site conditions, support procurement, and support construction.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in the industrial sector (power and/or petrochemical)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff.

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software such as ETAP

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of work experience as a licensed professional engineer
