Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Austin, TX office area. This person has to be local to one of those areas. We are looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with demonstrated design, construction, equipment operation and maintenance experience in the area of complex and mission critical facilities.

Job Summary:

Client is looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with demonstrated design, construction, equipment operation and maintenance experience in the area of complex and mission critical facilities. Knowledge of large-scale data centers’ and colocation facilities and electrical infrastructure systems is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, ability to

work in teams and matrix organization, fluency in software packages for design and analysis of electrical power systems is required. The candidate will be involved in the development of complex electrical infrastructure from site assessments to final turnover. The candidate will provide and prepare all types of documents including: Facility review checklists, facility audits, statement of work (SOW), concept design reviews, drawing markup, budget, schedule, factory test and acceptance documents.

This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements

  • Review project design drawings during development from concept to IFC

  • Manage power system issues during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, delivery, and installation on site

  • Identify and work with client POC to resolve issues raised by the cross functional teams and various external stakeholders

  • Understand and evaluate data center designs based on level of redundancy and SPOFs in the design

  • Responsible for onsite QA/QC, and successful product delivery per internal and external design and equipment standards

  • Cross discipline collaboration (with control systems and mechanical teams) and general understanding of interrelated issues is expected

  • Update and maintain the internal design specifications, drawings and standards to the

  • latest configurations with all lessons learned included for all equipment

  • Proficient in US codes and standards and power system analysis

  • Experience reviewing detailed shop drawings and sequences of operation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S.(Electrical Engineering) is required, M.S. & P.E. are preferred + 6 years of related experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 5+ years experience with mission critical facilities, with focus on market available data center colocation facilities

  • 3+ years experience with colocation facilities is required

Preferred Requirements:

  • Domestic & International travel, as needed (up to 30% of time)

  • Experience with performing power system analysis and common engineering software packages is required

  • Experienced in bidding, designing, operating, and commissioning of electrical distribution systems from high voltage (HV) transformer to branch circuits

  • Experience of cross discipline teams: structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural

  • Experience with colocation facilities is required

Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is: $92k - $135k
