AECOM is actively seeking a creative and motivated Civil Engineer II for immediate employment in the Austin, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate prior experience and relevant project work in the transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. The position provides the opportunity to manage, lead, and support transportation planning efforts for exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects.
Work will consist of conducting regional and/or corridor transportation planning, traffic forecasting, traffic impact analysis, traffic simulation modeling, technical reports, project meeting support and other duties as required. Successful candidates will be based out of the Houston office and may from time to time travel during the day or evenings to project sites, client meetings, other AECOM offices. Successful candidates will be expected to work independently and in teams to advance projects through client processes.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
Gathers and correlates necessary engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
Exercises good judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations
Supervises screen assignments for unusual or severe problems
Selects methods and procedures to be used on non-routine work
Bachelor's degree in engineering required
2+ years experience
Familiar with software such as Synchro, HCS, and VISSIM
Able to manage and conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks for traffic-related studies including high-level master plans, detailed corridor analyses for schematic development, and traffic impact analyses
Experience in handling traffic modeling, report development
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Willing to take increasing responsibilities for task/project management and a desire to grow technical skills and innovations
Must possess a valid driver's license
Experience with traffic impact analyses in central Texas region
PE or EIT registration in Texas
Registered engineer in training or professional engineer (PE) preferred
