AECOM Associate Director / Principal Water Team Design Lead in Auckland, New Zealand

Job Summary

A great opportunity for an Associate Director or Principal Engineer to be the Team Leader for our 3 waters infrastructure team based in Auckland, designing, and delivering projects and assisting with identifying and securing business opportunities and growing the team.

You will work on the full range of 3 waters projects from networks (including WaterCare’s Central Interceptor) through to large and small treatment plants, often on complex, challenging projects and deliver great outcomes for our clients. As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate regularly with our national Water leaders to support project pursuit efforts and to help harness the full value of our global expertise to create valued water solutions. You will also provide support to the water advisory and planning team with concept designs and support of business cases and asset management activities.

Day to day responsibilities include

  • Team Leader for the Auckland Water Design Team

  • Serving as lead engineer on design and or design & construct projects

  • Providing technical expertise for studies and design efforts

  • Presenting complex technical solutions to clients

  • Performing quality control reviews and approving and signing off work of work developed by others

  • Participating in development of technical proposals

  • Providing estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on projects

  • Mentoring team members

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a mature water/civil engineer with experience in design across all 3 waters and who has relevant local experience and established contacts along with;

  • 15+ years’ relevant experience preferably in a consulting environment with exposure to delivering a range of water infrastructure projects

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Strong skills and considerable experience in water engineering including hydraulics

  • Track record of successful complex design delivery

  • Extensive knowledge of design software tools including 12D and Civil3D

  • Existing experience in the local market with an established client network is preferred

  • Collaborative approach to winning and delivering projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognised Engineering degree and qualifications in one of the water engineering related disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, or similar) essential

  • CPEng (or progress towards it)
