AECOM Sr. Construction Inspector Fort Gordon, GA in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector position for large, complex projects at Ft. Gordon, GA. This is a multiyear program of expansion and renovation. The selectee will work with the US Army Corps of Engineers Ft. Gordon CYBER Area Office under the direction of a USACE Resident Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performs quality assurance and contract administration for construction projects at Ft. Gordon, GA.

  • Works under supervision of the Ft. Gordon Resident Engineer, who assign responsibilities and delegates authority to make determinations and decisions, e.g., construction progress and pay entitlement, QA and other contract compliance.

  • Administers on-site safety standards compliance. Resolves unsafe work conditions and practices. Administers the Accident Prevention Plan.

  • Prepares construction modification documents to include sketches and cost estimates. Evaluates impact of modification to schedule. Gathers and evaluates field data. Prepares modifications package for supervisor’s review.

  • Evaluates proposals from contractor and makes recommendation to supervisor.

  • Negotiates contract changes within funding limitation.

  • Prepares progress reports. Reviews schedules, shop drawings, submittals and contractor quality control reports. Compare data to project documents for consistency. Initiates corrective action as required.

  • Evaluates contractor’s progress reports for consistency with project progress, material quantities and storage, and man-hours. Prepares and coordinates contractor payment documents utilizing progress reports.

  • Reports and records significant job progress, critical issues and potential problems. Ensures corrective measures are applied in the field of by elevating problems to appropriate level.

  • Independently inspects construction work and incoming materials and equipment to determine compliance with contract documents and schedule.

  • Prepares and transfers contract revisions, material submittals, and as-built information. Reviews submittals and maintains submittal registry.

  • Performs constructability reviews of plans and specifications.

  • Conducts labor interviews with contractor personnel. Checks interview data against payrolls. Enforces compliance with applicable laws.

  • Performs all other assigned duties.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 10+ years of related experience

  • Must be able to obtain a negative result on a drug test performed in accordance with AECOM policy

  • Must posses valid driver's license and clean driving record

  • Due to the nature of this work, US citizenship is required

  • Microsoft Office experience. Must be proficient in Excel

  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely with written and verbal communication. Must be a good communicator

  • Interprets and applies the content of contracts, specifications, plans, applicable codes and standards, field reports and laboratory tests to construction projects

  • Performs duties with only general supervision

  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative for large scale construction projects

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions, including heat, dusts, noise, moisture, and dryness. Often (25-50% of the workday) performing standing/walking, keyboard/mouse operations, and operating vehicles. Occasionally (10-25% of the workday) performing repetitive bending/stooping, repetitive fine hand movements, and lifting less than 25 pounds. Rarely (less than 10% of the workday) working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, climbing stairs, using portable ladders, wearing fall protection, working in confined spaces, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting 25 to greater than 70 pounds

  • This position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, and face shield

  • 15 years of experience as construction project inspector with high school diploma
