Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Signal Technician for immediate employment in our Atlanta, GA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in traffic signals, specific to signal maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to working with a large team of technical experts on a multi-million dollar traffic operations program dedicated to actively operating and maintaining traffic signals in the Atlanta metro area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepare reports

  • Assesses performance of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepare reports

  • Assists timing engineers in implementing coordinated traffic signal timing plans

  • Effectively manages assigned tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule

  • Coordinates effectively with project teammates, agency staff, contractors, and other consultants

  • Interacts professionally with clients (internal and agency staff) and ensure clients are highly satisfied with task performance

  • Collects traffic data from the field, including intersection lane measurements, grades, and signal phasing

  • Work area primarily in metro Atlanta area. Will also periodically support work in GDOT Districts 1 & 6. Periodic travel to clients in other states may also be required (a handful of days per year, if at all)

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Reports to an ITS/Traffic Manager

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • 7+ years of experience in traffic signal operations

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a certification from an accredited technical college in engineering, military or communications provider, electronics, telecommunications, computer science or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in traffic signal operations

  • Prefer IMSA Level I or higher certification
