AECOM Senior NEPA Environmental Planner in Atlanta, Georgia
The Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior NEPA Planner for immediate employment in the Atlanta, GA office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential. The Senior NEPA Planner position will support the multi-discipline environmental group in Transportation. This candidate will perform tasks ranging from document reviews, research, report writing, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping among other duties.

This position would support the environmental transportation practice. This role would consist of preparation/QAQC environmental deliverables (including schedule management requiring interdisciplinary team coordination and ensuring schedules are updated based on changing client and/or regulatory needs) and guiding clients in the permitting and environmental management process to obtain environmental clearances
Provide QA/QC for environmental documents (NEPA and GEPA and supporting materials).
Interdisiciplinary facilitation to meet the project development process with Georgia DOT
Program management support, including project management experience, managing multiple aspects of projects and tasks as well as budgets and staffing, and schedules
Prepares basic data and scientific documents to include maps/figures, technical reports, agency coordination, NEPA documents, and permit applications for authorization by state and federal agencies. Gather data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports of investigations; compile and organize data collected by others. -Performs technical approach, quality control, data assessments, report reviews and QA/QC
Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews
Works in program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others
Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues, and public involvement.
Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to public, agencies, clients, and stakeholders
Works under the supervision of senior department leadership but is capable of completing all but the most complex tasks with minimal supervision
Scheduling- aligns project deliverables with engineering and project delivery milestones; recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement public improvements plan
The position works with Georgia state agencies and federal agencies to navigate permitting/regulatory requirements to obtain agency environmental clearances and to determine agency jurisdictionality of natural resources
Assist with mentorship of junior staff
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, environmental biology, ecology, wildlife management, and related disciplines)
6+ years of related environmental planning experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience with Georgia Department of Transportation and state and federal agencies tasked with regulatory requirements for transportation projects in Georgia;
The position requires proficiency at providing succinct summaries of environmental status updates and project development implications.
