Position Title ITS/Traffic Engineer

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated ITS/Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the Atlanta, GA office. As an ITS/Traffic Engineer in the ITS/Traffic Department you will assist with a variety of work including traffic signal timing/operations, traffic engineering studies, safety studies, traffic signal design, ITS planning, ITS architecture, ITS design, and ITS communications. We regularly perform hands-on signal operations work, so you'll have the opportunity to implement and fine-tune traffic signal timing plans, troubleshooting traffic signal equipment, and program and troubleshoot traffic signal and ITS communications network equipment. You'll also have the opportunity to design cutting edge ITS projects that implement the latest technologies for improving surface street transportation. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Leads/manages design of intersection and traffic signal design projects according to each agency’s standards and plan development processes
Leads the development of traffic engineering and safety studies
Leads/manages development and implementation of coordinated traffic signal timing plans, including building and optimizing Synchro models, developing timing databases, coordinating with agency staff to determine implementation needs/desires, implementing new timings, fine tuning new timings, and conducting before and after travel time studies
Leads active management of signal timing systems with 50 to 100 signals. Provides quality reviews of reports and studies documenting active management activities
Assesses performance of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepare reports
Performs troubleshooting and repairs of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepare reports
Effectively manages assigned projects/tasks and is in responsible charge of task activities and schedule
Manages client expectations to ensure client is highly satisfied with project(s)
Effectively manages project teams including engineers, planners, and technicians
Mentors/trains junior staff
Develops new business by fostering existing and new client relationships
Assists with and/or leads proposal development opportunities, including go/no-go decisions, determining teaming partners, scoping tasks, preparing estimates, and managing proposal development team
Periodic travel required within Georgia and neighboring states to serve GDOT signal timing projects and visit clients
Performs other duties as assigned
Reports to Senior ITS/Traffic Manager
Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school
5+ years of experience in traffic engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) license in Georgia or ability to acquire within 6 months
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail
Experience and demonstrated ability using the following software/firmware: Synchro/SimTraffic, MaxTime/MaxView, ACTRA/TACTICS, SEPAC, and MicroStation
Must posses a valid driver's license required
