AECOM ITS/Traffic Engineer II in Atlanta, Georgia

The ITS/Traffic Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented ITS/Traffic Engineer II for employment in the Atlanta, Georgia office.
As an ITS/Traffic Engineer II in the ITS/Traffic Department you will assist with a variety of work including traffic safety, traffic signal timing/operations, engineering studies, traffic signal design, ITS planning, ITS architecture, ITS design, and ITS communications. We regularly perform traffic engineering studies, signal design, and traffic safety engineering studies that include analyses and conceptual designs. We also perform hands-on traffic signal operations work, so you will have the opportunity to implement and fine-tune traffic signal timing plans, troubleshooting traffic signal equipment, and program and troubleshoot traffic signal and ITS communications network equipment. You'll also have the opportunity to design cutting edge ITS projects that implement the latest technologies for improving surface street transportation. This position reports to one of our project managers.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.-
Design example: can prepare base engineering files for design work.
Studies example: can import crash data from agency systems.
Signal Ops example: can build Synchro models with minimal oversight.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, such as sight distance and signal clearance intervals.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Design example: Making design recommendations based on field conditions.
Studies example: Using engineering judgement to make recommendations for operational improvements.
Signal Ops example: Using GDOT SigOps Metrics (ATSPM, AoG, etc.) make recommendations for operational improvements.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

- Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering or related field with two (2) years of civil design experience
Familiar with CAD or similar application
Passed FE exam with EIT status
