Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Civil Engineer based in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be joining the AECOM on a large program management contract providing program management support for the GDOT Office of Program Delivery Bridge Program. The position will be involved with civil engineering and project management for bridge project delivery.

Additionally, the Civil Engineer / Project Manager:

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results regarding design guidelines and manuals.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

  • Organizes and able to handle coordination of large datasets across multiple transportation practice areas.

  • May manage certain phases of projects.

  • Generally, works under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager/Program Manager.

  • Within individual's area of responsibility, consistently identifies potential project problems or opportunities in a proactive manner, analyzes the issues using all appropriate resources, develops alternatives and arrives at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.

  • Makes sound, well-informed and objective decisions relating to assigned project with a strong understanding of the impact and implications of decisions.

  • Manages project resources within the project’s scope, schedule and budget

  • Works outside and/or traveling occasionally to support field activities.

  • Works in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.

  • Applies attention to detail with proactive and resourceful problem-solving.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or directly related engineering field

  • 2 years of relevant professional and progressively responsible experience in civil engineering

  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record

  • Due to the nature of the work, must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Civil Engineer with a passion for active Project Management

  • 3 or more years of engineering experience combined with Project Management duties

  • Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) process and procedures experience

  • Minor or certificate in GIS, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field

  • Willingness to learn how to learn ESRI’s ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro

  • Willingness to learn how to prepare and deploy dashboard applications with R (Shiny), Power Bi, Tableau, or python enabled

  • Willingness to learn how to utilize Python, Model Builder, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Flow and other commonly used scripting tools to automate workflows and streamline routine engineer processes and tasks
