Job Summary

The Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Architectural Historian for immediate employment in the Atlanta, GA office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential.

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing oversight for client management, schedules, scope and budget to successfully implement the environmental regulatory process across multiple transportation programs

  • Assisting with business development for the Transportation Group

  • Support the multi-discipline environmental group in transportation.

  • Provide oversight to a team of specialist who may be conducting tasks ranging from field work, research, report writing, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping among other duties.

  • Synthesizes data from environmental team to evaluate consequences on the environmental process.

  • Develops schedules and approaches to best suit the successful implementation of the program.

  • Works with those who collect the data to understand and interpret data into reporting.

  • Provides senior reviews of reports and status for internal and external audiences.

  • Liaise and develop positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders

  • Manages aspects of a program such as oversight of project managers, oversight of project controls or similar

  • Provides direction and oversight to AECOM staff and subcontractors

  • Manages or provides oversight on a portfolio of projects or capital program(s) of significant size and complexity, and significant financial impact

  • Provides strategic plan and delivery on key client and program success; has broad program management impact

  • Prepares and delivers presentations on behalf and in support of the client’s program

  • Serves as the single point of contact to the client and acts as a liaison between management and clients on advanced program-related issues.

  • Interacts with executive level government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant program matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Assesses and manages risk on behalf of the client.

  • Providing specialist technical advice on environmental process to clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Architectural History, History, Cultural Resource Management, Historic Preservation, Preservation Planning)

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Strong technical/scientific writing skills

  • Ability to convey thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner

  • Ability to conduct architectural history research and surveys

  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework

  • Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner

  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous environmental consulting experience

  • Experience with NEPA planning/implementation, particularly as it relates to transportation

  • Willingness to expand professional experience/qualifications beyond current area of expertise
