Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Infrastructure Specialist III for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office.

The Infrastructure Specialist III is responsible for planning, design, implementation and maintenance of client’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, Information Transport Systems (ITS) and data centers. Tasks may involve enabling the integration of IT, ITS and facility management disciplines to centralize monitoring, management and intelligent capacity planning of a client’s critical infrastructure system. Also responsible for telecommunication/network system planning and integration of internal and external network systems. Relies on advanced experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Analyzes variety of telecommunications functions of client’s organization. Works to develop, improve, maintain, and implement telecommunications networks. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks dealing with the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. Works under limited supervision.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops detailed telecommunication/network system design documents (30%, 90%, 100%), test procedures and project estimating

  • Conducts field surveys to acquire to identify redundant pathways to all ancillary locations and each station’s Communication Room

  • Completes field report based on surveys

  • Develops infrastructure /cable routing plans, details and sections for construction drawings

  • Prepares project specifications

  • During construction, reviews shop drawings and responds to contractor inquiries

  • Performs site visits to monitor compliance with construction documents

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • 7+ years fiber optic field experience in designing, installing and testing fiber optic systems

  • WMATA, DOT and Municipal experience

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient using computer, MS Office, Visio and AutoCAD

  • Detail and safety oriented

  • Proficient of industry standards and codes (BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA, NFPA, OSI,OHSA)

  • Must complete RWP training

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering; Information Technology specializing in Telecommunication or Fiber Optics systems

  • 10+ years of experience in designing, installing and testing fiber optic systems

  • RCDD License Preferred

  • Coordinate several task at once and work with project personnel on scheduling of tasks

  • Ability to climb fixed ladders that equal or exceed 24 ft, work nights and sometimes work in underground spaces

  • Extensive experience in OSP/ISP/WAN fiber optic information systems (structured cabling systems for voice, data, video using fiber) creating ISP & OSP fiber optic cabling and pathway systems design/construction specifications including materials, installation, termination, grounding and testing
