AECOM Infrastructure Electrical Engineer in Arlington, Virginia
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office .
This position offers the following opportunities:
Extensive work on a variety of large, complex transportation infrastructure projects both regionally and nationally.
Project design work for a diverse client base and consistent exposure to interesting and complex project assignments.
Extensive current and forecasted backlog of project work which requires varying levels of support for roadway and transit tunnels, transit facilities, roadway lighting, associated power distribution, cable stay bridge cable dehumidification and various electrical systems design.
Direct collaboration and mentorship with/from senior electrical engineers with 25+ years’ experience on a high profile and highly sought after Transportation EE team.
Potential for rapid technical skill development due to complex and diverse project design work.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform lighting calculations to support layout of roadway and tunnel lighting designs.
Perform electrical calculations for low and medium voltage power distribution design required for transportation infrastructure projects that include roadway lighting, emergency power, fire protection and fire detection systems, tunnel lighting and tunnel ventilation.
Preparing a variety of concept designs, perform and assist with a diversity of transportation studies, contribute to and write reports for clients, which include multiple state and federal agencies.
Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Inspection and condition assessment of electrical equipment and systems.
Start-up and commissioning support for electrical equipment and systems.
Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
Develops solutions to a wide range of difficult technical problems.
Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
2+ years of experience in electrical power distribution design and lighting design.
Experienced in CADD design.
Familiarity with AASHTO and NFPA Standards.
Experience in developing and delivering PSE packages to DOTs.
Experience performing Roadway Lighting Design, familiarity with IES RP-8, IES RP-22, NFPA 502 Standard and NFPA 130.
Working knowledge of Micro-station, AGI32 Lighting Calculation software or similar, SKM Power System Analysis software or similar solutions.
Professional Engineer license a plus.
