Job Description

AECOM is seeking two (2) early career Energy and Sustainability Consultants to join the Energy and ESG Advisory team; this opportunity is available in several nationwide locations where AECOM has an office location, and not limited to locations posted . This team works on a variety of grid modernization, decarbonization, sustainability, and resilience related planning initiatives for governmental, utility, and private clients. Example topics covered by this team include building and transportation decarbonization; microgrids; distributed generation and storage; energy efficiency; district energy systems; net-zero buildings, campuses, and communities; energy-water nexus; and coordinated infrastructure investment.

The Energy and Sustainability Consultant will work closely with team members to develop high quality solutions for clients and partners. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days/week in the office.

Responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Primary tasks will include qualitative research, data analysis, presentation development, and writing client and/or public facing materials

  • This person will be expected to synthesize concepts into well written and visual reports and communicated clearly and concisely to both non-technical and technical audiences

  • Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation with an acute passion for developing strategic energy management, smart energy, sustainability, and energy efficiency solutions

  • Critical requirements include teamwork skills, knowledge of the energy/infrastructure industries, and the ability to develop high quality, creative project deliverables in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry

  • Gain and share general knowledge of the financial, technical or policy aspects driving decarbonization, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy, utility industries, and/or energy infrastructure development in a collaborative setting

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 2 years of professional work experience in one or more of the following: energy, sustainability, resilience, smart city technology, climate, decarbonization, transportation electrification, or another relevant field

  • Previous work experience and/or background in energy, sustainability, resilience, smart city technology, climate, or project management

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in engineering, economics, policy, business, or other related field is desired

  • Graduate Degree in engineering, economics, policy, business or related

  • Previous experience working in consulting, utility, or government

  • Project management certification or training

  • Relevant certifications such as FE/PE, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED, WELL, Envision

  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex processes or ideas simplistically - writing sample may be requested if selected for an interview

  • This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days/week in the office
