Job Summary

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Transit Business Development Leader and Program Manager for immediate employment in our Arlington, Virginia office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the transit industry and have a successful track record of business development, client service, and program management. The position will report to the Transportation Market Sector Lead for DC Metro and will work in a matrix organization, with local transportation and operations staff, regional leadership, and national transportation business line executives to position AECOM for new work with major transit clients in the DC Metro. Those primary clients include, but are not limited to WMATA, DDOT, and VRE. The focus will be on expanding our overall transit practice in the areas of planning, design, systems, and program and construction management services. Our Arlington Transportation practice is a truly multi-discipline practice focused on providing collaborative and holistic solutions to transportation and design.

  • Work with the National Transportation Business Line leadership team, Area and Regional Executives (operations and business development), the Transportation Regional Business Line Leader (RBLL), and area Business Development Leads on development and execution of sales strategies

  • Formulate and execute business development and client capture strategies, including general marketing efforts and specific opportunity pursuits, complete with identification of required staff resources to win and effectively deliver projects

  • Lead and work with others on Client Account Management

  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members

  • Identify upcoming transit pursuits in the DC Metro market

  • Effectively respond to task order RFPs, deliver projects and broaden client relationships

  • Position AECOM for pursuits that best fit our skill set and growth plans

  • Lead the proposal development process including team formulation, Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposals and Presentations

  • Attend conferences and workshops to strengthen existing client relationships and establish new relationships; obtain an understanding of emerging technologies and market drivers

  • Maintain a high local and regional profile

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration or related discipline

  • 15+ years of experience in organizational development and leadership, program management, client service management, or business development activities for large-scale transit clients and/or projects

  • Proven track record with large client account management, pursuit execution, and engineering/technical sales

  • Experience in client pre-positioning activities, team (internal and external) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews

  • Familiarity with local and federal funding and project development requirements

  • A team-oriented individual that can work with operations, project and marketing staff of all levels

  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and business lines for integrated delivery and growth

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/external networking skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software programs.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • BA/BS + 12 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership

  • 20+ years of experience in organizational development and leadership, program management, client service management, or business development activities for large-scale transportation/transit clients and/or projects

  • Working relationships with local transit clients

  • Track record of increasing market share in the transit sector

  • Recognized business development/client management leader

  • A recognized leader in developing and nurturing relationships with key clients

  • A recognized leader in professional organizations​

  • License and/or registration of professional engineer or planner
