Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for a

Plumber / Mechanic that would support non-hazardous OCONUS and CONUS activities, with the possibilities of deployments lasting 3 to 6 months at a time.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.

  • Installation of chilled water chiller equipment

  • Installation of chilled water Fan Coil Units

  • Pressure test installations to assure integrity and that the installation meets the specified design requirements.

  • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.

  • Review and implement building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.

  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.

  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, access and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.

  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.

  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings and valves

  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.

  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.

  • Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains

  • Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

  • Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

  • Controlling Machines and Processes -- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material -- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings -- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates -- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must have an active, fully adjudicated TS security clearance.

  • High School education or GED.

  • Documented training from a labor union / trade school / training program documenting plumber skill sets.

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/poly preferred.
