AECOM has a great opportunity for an
Electrical Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a Power and Cooling Service Provider program for a mission critical customer responsible for the renovation and modernization of the existing utility infrastructure and buildings. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing engineering calculations and analyses, maintaining and submitting related reports and data on assignments of advanced complexity, and providing technical guidance during events that affect the performance of critical mission systems. This individual will propose engineering solutions and modifications in accordance with the customer requirements. He/she will be responsible for modeling and simulating the electrical infrastructure using the ETAP software, and for maintaining an engineering technical library and informational repositories. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for interacting with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and customer representatives, and for performing engineering related functions. Responsible for sustaining the electrical system model database using the ETAP software. Conduct and analyze load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies. Work with customers to gather and analyze critical information, review engineering plans and propose engineering solutions. Work with the campus model team personnel and field forces conducting surveys and gathering critical information for analysis. Coordinate and interface with other numerous Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms, and be a self-contained engineer. This is a technically oriented position.
Essential Job Functions:
Utilize experience in Power Systems.
Specialize in the analysis, simulation, monitoring, control, optimization, and automation of the client’s electrical power systems.
Knowledge and experience utilizing ETAP (or similar) to provide coordination assistance with protective device selection and coordination, Time-Current Curves (TCCs), and Arcflash Reduction Maintenance Settings (ARMS).
In depth understanding of codes and standards including, but not limited to:
IEEE 1584-2002 & 2018 - IEEE Guide for Performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations
IEEE 242-2001 - IEEE Protection and Coordination of Industrial and Commercial Power Systems
IEEE 3000 Standards Collection™ for Industrial & Commercial Power Systems
An understanding of SCADA systems and Capacity Management Systems.
Experience with analytical skills and recovery of failure of Low Voltage/Amp Circuit Breakers (LVACBs), Overcurrent Relays (OCRs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) for known problems or during unscheduled events (e.g. outages).
Responsible for reviewing engineering designs and incorporating verified as-built settings into the facility/campus “master model.” Must be capable of reviewing and analyzing equipment test reports.
Generate and complete annual revisions and updates to design specifications for complex projects.
Will be required train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing, and analysis of engineering assignments.
Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status
Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field.
7 or more years of job-related experience or equivalent.
Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
Active, fully adjudicated TS clearance is preferred.
Experience in Power Systems.
Professional License (PE) in Electrical Engineering.
