AECOM has an opportunity for an
Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) at our facility in Alice Springs, Australia. The EHS Specialist will develop and oversee plans, policies and procedures to ensure that Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG) is a safe working environment. The selected candidate will provide assistance in the management and coordination of site personnel to ensure compliance with all relevant US and Australian reference material including legislation, policy, Facility Regulations and other documented guidance; identify and resolve any conflict between relevant reference material and the Statement of Work (with the reference material to take precedence); identify, recommend and make amendments to site Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) documents as necessary to reflect wider (US and Australian) OHS policy developments; annual review and update of the Site Safety Handbook; development, implementation and maintenance of an OHS plans and program including OHS related policies, procedures, work instructions and enablers (forms and templates); identification, procurement, installation, operation, inspection and maintenance of required safety equipment needed by Operational Requirements; ensure hazard and hazardous material identification, analysis and control; coordinate, with other relevant bodies, responses to OHS related incidents on-site and at other locations as directed/required; develop, plan and deliver OHS related training for all personnel at JDFPG; provide advice and recommendations to the JDFPG Safety and Emergency Management Committee (JSEMC); ensure OHS related licenses, permits, certificates, etc necessary for operation on the JDFPG site are recorded, audited, issued, current and renewed as required; support development and implementation of OHS audit programs; contribute to the compilation of Contract Deliverable Requirement Line (CDRLs) items, periodic reports and notices as requested; provide initial point of contact for workers compensation issues affecting OASIS employees; conduct Incident Investigations; conduct Life Safety Audits, make recommendations and Conduct Reviews; lead Incident Investigations, inclusive of Information gathering, determinations and recommendations; conduct project Statement of Work (SOW) reviews and act as Point of Contact (POC) during the life of the OASIS Program; and perform other responsibilities as directed.
Active, fully adjudicate Top Secret security clearance is required.
Knowledge of Australian and US Health and Safety Standards.
Experience working as an OHS Officer in a multi-disciplined facility.
High level communication (written and verbal),teamwork and people skills.
Experience in the conduct of safety audits.
Experience in the development and provision of safety related training.
Experience in the development of safety related policy.
Experience in workers compensation management.
Able to work Autonomously with restricted Supervision.
Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
Working knowledge of SAP system.
Experience with environmental and hygiene programs.
