Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for an experienced Carpenter to join their team based in the town of Alice Springs on a full time 2 year fixed term basis with possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator you will perform the maintenance, repair and renovation work associated with the infrastructure in their facilities.

Work is performed at residential properties as well as other facilities in the town of Alice Springs. Call outs may be required occasionally.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Carpenter include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance tasks; either programmed (planned) maintenance or repairs as required

  • Inspect and evaluate materials for defects

  • Install and remodel cabinets, counters and molding as required

  • Tasks for project type work as required

  • Liaise with others to notify and organise tasks to be undertaken as required

  • Ensure equipment is maintained to operate in a safe manner

  • Report any incidents to management as a priority

  • Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks

  • Work as part of a team

  • Assist in other areas of facilities and maintenance area from time to time as required

  • Work to ensure that safety is an integral part of everyday activities

  • Other duties as directed by the VESTA management team.

Minimum Requirements


  • Current Driver’s License

  • Demonstrated 3-5 years’ experience in construction and industrial maintenance work

  • Ability to work within a team environment

  • Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision

  • Good interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

  • Good communication skills – verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete assigned tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse issues and develop solutions to problems

  • Australian Government NV1 Security clearance or ability to gain one


  • Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e. Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights,

  • Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches etc.)

  • Strategic with proven project management skills

This role is suited to an individual with a strong customer service focus, who thrives on a fast-paced and busy environment.

  • Trade Qualification – Carpentry and Joinery
