AECOM SRR Training- New Training Technologies 2019 Student Summer Intern in Aiken, South Carolina

Job Summary

Provide support to Savannah River Remediation (SRR) as a Student Summer Intern Limited Service Employee (LSE) on the Savannah River Site (SRS), a US Department of Energy (DOE) facility in western South Carolina.

The intern will perform meaningful work in support of the organization. Guidance will be provided using SRR processes and procedures. Interns will prepare and present a final project to the SRR management team summarizing conclusions about the experience, impacts delivered and relevance for their future career.

This assignment is for the SRR Training New Training Technology group . This position will interface with relevant SRR organizations to work on determining Training organization needs and converting them to new training technologies. For example: one task will be to learn as much as possible about the Apperson Scorning Scanner and provide training to include interpreting data from the various reports and creating databases to import data for all Operations, Maintenance, RadCon and Engineering personnel. Creating the databases will allow the necessary information to be retrieved for generating various reports. The goal is to Maximize the use of this new technology. The intern should have an excellent math background and be familiar with PowerPoint.

Additional Information:

The internship will run for a 12-week period from May 20, 2019 until August 8, 2019. Housing is not provided but reasonable rentals are available through the University of South Carolina-Aiken student housing office.

A 40-hour work week is set and scheduled by the individual departments. SRS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), etc. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch. Interns will be paid a competitive hourly rate; no summer interns will be assigned to shift work; overtime is not available; Interns will be paid for site holidays (Memorial Day, July 4) as applicable.

Assignments will be located in SRR facilities on the 300sq mile DOE site outside of Aiken SC. Public transportation is not available and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver’s License, Registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site.

You will be assigned to SRS General Employee Training and Drug and Alcohol test appointments before badging and commencement of assignment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student as a rising junior or senior at:

  • an accredited four year university, and currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in, Computer Science, Technology Education or related. OR

  • an accredited college or university, and currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology Education or related.

  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen

In addition:

  • Must pass General Employment Training (GET)

  • Must pass Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT)

These two items will be scheduled before the intern starts work at Savannah River Site
