Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a

Principal Engineer – DWPF Electrical System Engineer​ to be based in our

Aiken, SC location.

The Principal Engineer – DWPF Electrical System Engineer Serves as the Design Authority over Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) and Saltstone Facility Electrical systems. Provides subject matter expertise for AC power distribution systems and equipment, DC power supply and equipment, and joule-heated glass melter power and controls. Performs duties to manage the technical and safety baselines of electrical systems and conduct assessments of system health. Performs technical oversight/mentoring to junior electrical systems engineers.


  • Perform senior technical reviews and approvals on all modifications to electrical distribution systems

  • Solve complex technical issues concerning electrical systems operation, maintenance, degradation, failures in context of supporting SRR production objectives and PEMP milestones for DWPF canister production and Saltstone vault filling.

  • Perform trending and analysis of key electrical system performance parameters for predictive system health initiatives

  • Manage safety basis inputs and review/approve DSA and TSR revisions and modifications

  • Subject Matter Expert for AC power distribution systems and equipment, DC power supply and equipment, and joule-heated glass melter power and controls.

  • Mentor junior engineers in all aspects of DWPF electrical system design and operation.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;

  • 8+ years of progressive Engineering experience;

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of advanced engineering principles and practices to develop appropriate outputs.

  • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment with multiple demands and priorities.

  • Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
