Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an

ETP Shift Operations Manager to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

Responsible for the safe, cost-effective and disciplined conduct of Effluent Treatment facility activities to meet DOE production demands for the treatment of contaminated waste water and subsequent release of treated water. Supervises all aspects of facility operations on assigned shift, including supervision of facility operators and support personnel. Functions as on-shift plant management during back shifts, weekends, and holidays when Facility Manager and Operations Manager are absent and assumes authority for other work groups during those situations. Independently makes decisions regarding emergency actions and non-routine occurrences that affect personnel health, plant equipment, and the environment. This position reports to, and takes direction from, the ETP Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures ETP operations activities are performed in a safe and cost-effective manner and in accordance with good Conduct of Operations practices and approved procedures, including compliance with the following:

  • DOE Orders and requirements through implementation of company/site policies, procedures, and programs

  • NPDES permit requirements

  • Administrative, technical, and response procedures

  • Authorization Basis requirements

  • Develops and tracks facility performance goals and standards.

  • Assumes primary responsibilities for plant cleanliness, housekeeping, and material condition.

  • Assumes and approves all lockout/tagout plans for hazardous energy control affecting ETP.

  • Approves the initiation of any maintenance, operations, construction, test, and surveillance activities that affect the facility or its equipment.

  • Conducts concise, informative shift briefings which establish goals and priorities for the shift.

  • Communicates with other support organizations to ensure operating activities are performed as scheduled.

  • Performs initial investigation of abnormal events.

  • Ensures appropriate notifications are made in a timely, effective manner, as required by facility events and procedures.

  • Takes appropriate emergency actions, when necessary, to prevent or mitigate the consequences of an abnormal event and places the facility in a safe, stable condition following the event.

  • Ensures that operators under his/her cognizance are qualified for their job and physically fit to perform the work.

  • Maintains a South Carolina physical/chemical (P/C) waste water operator license.

  • Coordinates and supervises all surveillance and emergency response activities at ETP and Saltstone Facility during back shifts, weekends, and holidays, in the absence of the Facility and Operations Management.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 9+ years field nuclear experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance OR

  • Associates or non-technical Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years field nuclear experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance OR

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related technical discipline with 5+ years field nuclear experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance

  • Must successfully complete a training and qualification program within the first year. Must also obtain and maintain a South Carolina waste water operator license.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Waste Water Certification License
