Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an

Entry E&I Mechanic to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

Performs the installation and maintenance of simple mechanical equipment. Assists under the close supervision of qualified mechanics with moderately complex maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment. Attends classroom, on-the-job, and other types of training as deemed necessary by line management.


  • Works from approved standard and special procedures.

  • Obtains guidance from more experienced mechanics or supervisors when conditions warrant.

  • Completes work orders, service requests and stores orders.

  • Follows/complies with applicable Safety and Rad Con policies and procedures.

  • Assembles simple instrumentation and electrical or electronic apparatus from material and parts following instructions.

  • Performs simple electrical/electronic tasks such as changing light bulbs, running conduit, replacing components, calibration of simple instrumentation and electrical/electronic devices.

  • Assists more experienced mechanics with the installation, inspection and maintenance of moderately complex instruments, electrical and electronic equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and allied equipment.

  • Operates motorized vehicles and associated equipment within licensing limits.

  • Develops and performs non-documented lockouts.

  • Performs incidental rigging on equipment.

  • May be required to perform operations functions where specific module training has been provided.

  • Performs administrative functions such as reading and understanding manuals/procedures and others as needed to perform the job.

  • Attends and successfully completes classroom, on-the-job training, lectures, seminars and other forms of training.

  • Meets the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meeting Rad Con requirements.

  • Performs simple or routine maintenance activities based on skills and knowledge attained from training and previous experience.

  • May be required to complete Advanced Rad Worker Training (ARWT) and perform task-specific RCI functions.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation benefits are not available for these positions.

  • Selected candidates must also pass the E&I Unit skills test administered by the Site Maintenance Training personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree in one of the following or equivalent: Electronic Engineering Technology, Electronic Instrumentation Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance,

  • OR four years of related experience/training equivalent to qualification standards.

  • All candidates must satisfactorily complete the ACT Work Keys Skills Assessment and achieve a minimum score of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 2 in Workplace Observation, 4 in Workplace Document, and 4 in Applied Technology.

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
