AECOM is currently seeking to hire Senior Associate Public Health to be based at Abu Dhabi.
The Senior Associate Public Health Engineer will work as part of the MEP Design Engineering team within our Building Engineering division. The Engineer will have the ability and experience to operate as a capable professional, organizing and executing design work on projects of all scales.
The Engineer will be proficient in all phases of delivery including concept, schematic, detailed design, and tender issue. The Engineer will have extensive knowledge of all public health services design activities, including foul water drainage, rainwater drainage, natural gas, hot and cold water systems and fire fighting systems design, including associated water treatment and filtration systems, tank/pump sizing and solar hot water systems. Knowledge of grey water treatment systems would be an advantage.
In addition to the required level of design skills, the Engineer will require a broadly developed skill set, including report writing, specification writing, review and verification of others’ designs whilst also managing Client relationships through the entire life cycle of a project(s). Site experience an advantage.

Lead the assigned team of Engineers on a day to day basis and ensure that design excellence is achieved throughout
Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi-disciplinary coordination of the design documentation prepared by the assigned team
Ensures the quality of technical work produced by team meets AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards
Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, develops details and edits reports and specifications
Regularly reviews and checks their own deliverables for accuracy, efficiency and thoroughness ensuring delivery is as per AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards and meets the Clients deliverables requirements
Demonstrates a highly organized and systematic approach to producing a project. Understands the necessity to keep team and project tasks lists updated and complete
Demonstrates a high degree of Time Management skill and constantly seeks to streamline processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency
Participates in MEP resource planning for the project and reporting project needs to senior team members
Routinely interacts with clients, contractors, local authority representatives and others using skills of persuasion and negotiation to resolve critical issues
Coordinate and develop responses to review comments, tender queries, contractor’s queries, etc.
Promotes teamwork within the MEP Team and remote teams, maintaining positive moral and instilling a creative culture within the team
Understands and implements project management principles and able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to budget
Manage interface between design team / site supervision team ensuring proper design support is provided in a timely manner
Apply Safety in Design principles throughout all design stages of a project
Support junior staff in activities to develop their technical excellence
Take initiatives to develop design manuals, standard design documents, presentations, etc. to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across the MEP practice
Keeps abreast of the latest software/ techniques to increase productivity while sharing knowledge with colleagues

Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations and submission requirements
A good awareness of Autodesk Revit and managing projects in a BIM environment
Ability and will to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider engineering community within AECOM’s Middle East offices
Ability and motivated to update skills and expertise through continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives
Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.
Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
A minimum of 15 years in mechanical engineering, with at least 5+ spent in the design of PH systems.
Understanding of International design standards
Extensive experience of designing Public Health systems in a range of buildings
Knowledge of the design codes for all main types of buildings, including offices, schools, hospitals, stations, airports and residential
Excellent report-writing skills
Advanced IT skills
Experience in technical and client facing roles, managing and delivering projects and working as part of a larger team
- A Bachelor’s Degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Public Health is required.
