Job Summary

Serves as a capable professional in an Interior Design Team, leading work on specific elements of a project with minimal direction and supervision of a Senior Interior Designer or designated senior team members.

The Interior Designer can work on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. The role also includes the guiding and management of junior staff members.

  • Drawing production (Design Brief compliance, completeness & accuracy)

Job Duties:

  • Independently handle and deliver small project packages from Concept to Detailed Design in the absence of a Senior Interior Designer, or in some cases with minimal supervision

  • Assists the Senior Interior Designer or designated team member with the design work ensuring project objectives are met, design instructions are implemented and delivery is achieved within the set time and budget

  • Independently checks the correctness and absolute accuracy of own and others work prior to review by the Senior Interior Designer or designated team member

  • Participates in team meetings by bringing ideas and solutions to the table

  • Ensures regular coordination with project teams ensuring communication is flowing adequately, and questions concerns are addressed

  • Produce vignettes/hand sketches of interior and FF&E ideas that work in the space and meet the intended goals

  • Independently able to produce complete design concepts, strategies, typologies, details and plans for Signage and Wayfinding.

  • Prepare a full report and/or package for Signage and Wayfinding with theming in accordance to the Interior Design intent of the project.

  • Produce drawings either in Autocad or Revit

  • Produce visualisations using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

  • Develop specifications

  • Prepare FF&E schedules

  • Preparing material lists and sample boards

  • Attend client meetings

  • Confidently present work to colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

  • Provide technical support to site supervision teams and resolve design related issues on site

  • Coordinate and develop responses to review comments, tender queries, contractor’s queries, etc.

  • Responsible, with guidance from senior team members, for the preparation and compilation of design presentations and design reports

  • Mentoring Intern, Graduate and junior team members

Specific Skills Required :

  • Developed interior design skills and understanding of the design process and interfaces between design disciplines

  • Skilled at researching finish materials and learning about their required applications as well as installation requirements so that the information can be noted in depth on the drawings

  • Can quickly locate and select items due to in-depth knowledge of products and vendors

  • Proven ability to create comprehensive finish schedules, lighting schedules, etc. that include enough information for procurement and quality installation

  • Must be able to develop and create full design strategy for Signage and Wayfinding

  • Graphic design capabilities with an in-depth understanding of the principles of Signage and Wayfinding

  • Must be able to select and specify materials to be used for developed signage designs.

  • Capable of producing a set of quality specifications

  • Able to review shop drawings and samples to ensure drawings and finishes match AECOM specifications

  • Demonstrates a highly organized and systematic approach to producing a project. Understands the necessity to keep team and project tasks lists updated and complete

  • Demonstrates a high degree of Time Management skill and constantly seeks to streamline processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency

  • Effectively communicates across the business and with clients

  • Flexibility of attitude towards company objectives

  • Positive relationships with clients and stakeholders

  • Developed leadership skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT, word processing and presentation software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Knowledge and experience of Rhino, Sketchup or 3D Max.

  • Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations and submission requirements

  • Developed knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Principles

  • Developed knowledge of Sustainable Design principles

  • Ability and will to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider Interior Design community

  • Ability and will to update knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge of AECOM’s standards, policies, codes and procedures and ability to transmit the same to others

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Interior Design
