Job Description

We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join and support the growth of our landscape architecture team, based in any of our north/east offices (Leeds, Chesterfield, Cambridge). As a member of one of the UK&I’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including strategic planning, flood resilience, urban regeneration, major infrastructure, and environmental enhancement schemes. We are working with major clients that include Environment Agency (EA), National Highways, National Grid, Homes England, universities, local authorities, and numerous private clients. We work across the design stages integrating our strengths in landscape planning, design, and management to produce design and implementation solutions which are in harmony with the environment, sustainable and deliver in an imaginative and innovative way.

As part of the role, we are looking for applicants with on-site landscape implementation and maintenance experience, with the opportunity to join our growing team of Contract Administrator and Landscape Clerk of Works delivering our framework contract services for the EA. This would require a proven track record of managing JCLI Landscape Works and Maintenance Works (2017) contracts and a passion for horticulture and establishment aftercare best practice, sharing the Environment Agency’s sustainability and innovation objectives.

We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience and a proven track record in landscape design, implementation, and contract administration. Minimum Requirements

  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).

  • Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of JCLI Landscape Works and Maintenance Works (2017) contracts.

  • An understanding of project management, including financial control and reporting and programme management and ability to manage own budgets.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.

  • Experience of some or all of the following useful: ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Job Responsibilities:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical expertise to be able to carry out the following job/project accountabilities:

  • Undertake site survey work.

  • Contract Administration and Landscape Clerk of Works, including financial forecasting and communication and negotiation with landscape contractors.

  • Produce and/or oversee the production of reports, drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development from assessments and strategies to mitigation design.

  • Be client facing and respond to client requirements with the support of senior staff.

  • Clear communication, including the ability to contribute to conference calls, meetings and workshops.

  • Have the technical ability, knowledge, and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.

  • Be aware of and understand the AECOM procedures, their importance, and their application to projects.
