We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Intermediate Instrumentation and Control Designer for immediate employment in the Winnipeg office. Working within the AECOM Water department, the I&C designer will work within a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to deliver a wide variety of projects for water supply, waste water treatment, and industrial works.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of project proposals by preparing conceptual design, scope of work, budget, and schedule

  • Participate in project design and progress meetings

  • Technical presentation to clients

  • Develop process control strategy in cooperation with process and mechanical engineers and designers

  • Develop detailed design documents including; process and instrument drawings, control system architecture, schematics, layouts, and installation details

  • Select control system components and write detailed specification data sheets

  • Develop control system input/output index

  • Develop control system instrument index

  • Participate in the development of Tender documents

  • Construction inspection, commissioning and troubleshooting

  • Development of standard operating procedures and maintenance manuals

  • Operator training presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Technical or Associates degree with a specialization in instrumentation, control systems, and automation

  • Minimum 2-5 years related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, various types of pumps, and control valves

  • Experience with the configuration and programming of PLC and/or DCS

  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting

  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code

  • Knowledge of medium and low voltage electrical distribution

  • Experience with control circuits for single speed, multi-speed, reversible, and variable frequency motor starting equipment

  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment and control systems
