Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Area Project Controls Manager for immediate employment. The individual appointed to the BC Area Project Controls Manager Role will work collaboratively as part of a multi-skilled, talented team, to achieve the defined Corporate and Regional goals for Project Controls. This individual should have demonstrated solid technical competency, both internal and client facing, and a high level of skill to analyze and solve complex problems as they support program and project management and project controls, which includes such functions as planning and scheduling, budgeting, change and claims management, expenditure tracking, project progress, development and deployment of Earned Value methodology, and cost and revenue forecasting (both internal and client facing).

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Through the effective oversight of a team of Project Controls professionals, provide Project Controls support to a portfolio of projects within a defined geographical area

  • Work with current business leaders to articulate the role of project controls across the enterprise, review and assess existing projects and identify potential opportunities for improvement or additional support

  • Support business development and project startup/execution approaches including defining project controls staffing requirements as well as providing specialized training, as requested

  • Support a collective project controls resource management approach to include assessing and tracking existing staff, assignment durations, developing growth plans for the individuals (balanced with overall business unit needs and strategy) and identifying opportunities for development of staff

  • Assist in initiatives to include: standardization of processes and tools; participate in the deployment and evolution of standard AECOM solutions; support the networking with AECOM project controls community to share knowledge and resources across the corporation; support development of project controls best practices within AECOM, potentially working with a vast group of stakeholders; participate in an initiative focused on formal development of and providing mentoring programs for the AECOM project controls community

Minimum Requirements

  • Technical, Construction Management, or Business Bachelor’s degree, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 15+ years relevant experience, very high level of understanding of project controls tools, techniques and practices, demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements, experience in successfully leading teams

  • Track record with substantial, complex and varied project experience

  • Ideal candidate will have experience using industry standard project controls software and cost accounting and earned value packages

  • Ability to execute duties with a focus on continuous improvement, both within the project controls community and AECOM operations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, possess interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships, and have demonstrated business acumen

  • Ability to travel domestically, as required
