Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is seeking a talented and energetic Senior Transportation Technician/Technologist for employment in the Whitby, Ontario office for their Highways Group.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate strong technical background and interest in Highways/ Municipal Roadway design

  • Responsible for setting up and developing engineering drawing plans, sections, profiles and details in compliance with client’s CAD standards and protocol

  • Support preliminary/ detailed design and drafting duties for Highways/ Municipal Roadway projects

  • Calculate dimensions and quantities; prepare cost and material estimates; shop drawing review

  • Drawing co-ordination with structural, drainage, electrical and other disciplines (as required)

  • Assistance with construction contract administration – shop drawings

  • Work independently and as part of a project team

  • Strive for and maintain high quality and integrity of deliverables

  • Ensure issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follow up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

  • Opportunities to provide inspection services on linear infrastructure project sites

  • Other duties as assigned, including project or meeting documentation, servicing report preparation and support

  • Mentor/ guide junior staff as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Technical or Associate's diploma in related field

  • 10+ years of experience in Highway/ Roadway design projects, 3+ years experience in a supervisory role

  • High proficiency in InRoads required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in multi discipline design coordination

  • High proficiency in MTO/ Municipal roadway design

  • Sound knowledge of MTO and Municipal CAD standards

  • AutoCAD Civil3D program experience desirable
