Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer in Washington DC.

The Senior Storage Engineer shall lead all management functions, design and implementations pertaining to enterprise storage and backup infrastructure.

The SSE shall manage other team members in support of the enterprise storage and backup infrastructure as well as related systems, applications and services.

Responsibilities may include:

Perform OS upgrades, firmware upgrades and other related upgrades.

Configure the storage controllers following industry best practice and security baselines.

Configure optimization, performance and health monitoring.

Forecast storage needs and make sound recommendations and decisions.

Manage ONTAP 7-Mode and Clustered mode.

Analyze, resolve or recommend solutions to highly complex technical problems such, as security issues, performance issues and reliability issues.

Support application storage requirements, testing and implementations.

All other tasks/duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 8 years minimum experience.

  • 8 years of enterprise storage management, particularly NetApp storage running 7-Mode and Clustered Mode.

  • 5 years NetApp required.

  • Must have the ability to perform OS upgrades, firmware upgrades and other related upgrades

  • Must have the ability to configure the storage controllers following industry best practice and security baselines

  • Be able to configure optimization, performance and health monitoring

  • Knowledge of CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FCP design, configuration, administration and best practices

  • Experience forecasting storage needs.

  • Knowledge of NetApp technologies such as SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapManager for SQL, SnapManager for Exchange, SnapDrive, Unified Manager, OnCommand Core, OSSV, SMBR, System Manager

  • Experience managing ONTAP 7-Mode and Clustered mode both from CLI and GUI.

  • Experience on tasks such as aggregate creation, volume and lun provisioning, CIFS provisioning and hard disk replacement.

  • Experience in analyzing, resolving or recommending solutions to highly complex technical problems such, as security issues, performance issues and reliability issues.

  • Experience supporting application storage requirements, testing and implementations.

  • 7+ years experience managing backup infrastructure; must experience with NetBackup version 7 or higher

  • Demonstrated experience writing status reports that provide both high-level and detailed information about the enterprise storage usage, performance and forecast.

  • Basic understanding of VMware infrastructure specifically datastore provisioning and iSCSI configuration

  • General understanding of networking concepts such as VLAN, trunking, LACP, IP addressing and routing

  • Advanced knowledge of file services administration and permissions management and file auditing

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Windows environment

  • Active Directory and Domain

  • DFS Namespace

  • File Sharing

  • Windows Clustering

  • Exchange Mail Services

  • US Citizenship required; must be able to obtain position of Public Trust

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CommVault is a plus

Demonstrated experience in NetApp filer CIFS NAS configuration

Demonstrated experience in NetApp filer fiber channel SAN configuration

Demonstrated experience in iSCSI DAS configuration

Demonstrated experience in NetApp Snapshot, SnapVault, and Snap Mirror configuration

Demonstrated experience in NetApp aggregate, volume configuration

Demonstrated experience in HP StorageWorks

Demonstrated experience fine tuning storage for optimal performance

Demonstrated experience providing oral and written communication to high level management

Demonstrated experience adapting to changing environment requirements and managing multiple tasks
