The Buildings and Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking an energetic, self-motivated, highly collaborative Entry Level Architect / Interior Designer to join its Washington, DC / Arlington, Virginia newly created Interiors Workplace Practice. This is a temporary position, expected to last approximately 3 months. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. You will gain experience in your discipline through learning on the job and participate in development opportunities during the program, including access to AECOM's social media resources, group mentoring, and professional networking. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assist in preparation of interior designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings
Occasional field work may be required to gather building measurements and other data in order to create interior design plans and specifications
Assist senior-level designers with development of design solutions, perform site surveys, and maintain resource materials
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Participate on project teams to learn the process of the planning, design, and execution of projects and will work with senior designers, technical coordinators, discipline leaders and project managers to develop creative solutions to a myriad of challenging project types
In conjunction with the project team, will be responsible for implementation of the design and production of all phases of an Interiors project including programming, test fits, space plans, design development, construction documents, construction administration, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) packages and Color Presentation Board documentation
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or other related field required
Outstanding design and graphic skills
Strong communication, planning and collaboration skills and be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment on a variety of projects and tasks
Possess some working knowledge in design and production of all phases of an Interiors project delivery including programming, test fits, space plans, design development, construction documents, construction administration and furniture, fixtures & equipment (FF&E) selection and color board presentation documentation
Proficient in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up or other visualization software, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and Microsoft Office products
Candidate should be preparing to meet all qualifications to sit for NCIDQ, LEED and/or ARE exams
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience is a plus but not a requirement
