AECOM are recruiting a Senior Technician / Designer to join our established and ever growing Power & Energy Nuclear unit in the Warrington office.

Our Power & Energy sectors primarily focus is the design, management & supervision of multi-discipline projects on all the major nuclear clients within the UK, with a primary focus on turn-key solutions to projects often including control system design, building services and direct consultancy services.
The position requires an experienced senior technician / designer who can then apply their skills to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects are a wide variety of sizes ranging from client consultancy support to multi-million pound complete turn-key solutions.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Production of design deliverables including drawing schematic diagrams, bcd’s, control panel GA’s, loop diagrams, load / equipment / instrument schedules etc.
Normal and Emergency lighting layouts and calculations using DIALux or Similar
Cable calculations (buy hand and Amtech)
Informing your team lead on any potential changes to the project to aid the Project Managers in the capture and management of change.
For this role we would expect you to be:
Qualified to a minimum of HNC level or preferably have a relevant engineering degree and be able to demonstrate sound technical experience
Competent user of the current version of AutoCAD, a sound understanding of drawing standards and best drawing practice
Able to work from specifications, survey reports and sketches
Competency in Microsoft Office Word & Excel
Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
Willingness and ability to undertake site surveys and inspections and to spend short periods of time on customer and supplier sites at various locations within the UK.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.
Able to meet UK security clearance requirements
Your previous experience will demonstrate competency in a number of the following areas:
Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
Motor control centre and control panel design
Fire Alarm design
Control and Instrumentation
Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules etc.)
Programmable Logic Controllers hardware /software design
I/O, alarm & trip schedules
Control panel design (GA’s, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists etc.)
Nuclear industry experience would be an advantage however we are principally looking for first class E, C&I Technicians / designers who have the capacity to learn and develop their skills for the nuclear industry. Ideally you would have experience in the following areas;
A current qualification for BS7671
Access and Security system design
Communications systems design (Ethernet and field bus communications)
Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513)
Safety Instrumented Systems (configuration diagrams)
Experience of commissioning control systems
Experience of maintaining electrical systems
Medium / High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
Project & cost tracking
Knowledge and understanding of BS8888
An appreciation of mechanical / civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team
