Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Organizational Effectiveness (OE) Strategic Initiatives Manager who delivers change leadership, communicates capabilities for key business and Human Resource (HR) initiatives within Design & Consulting Services (DCS) Americas and Enterprise. This role will be reporting into the OE Strategic Initiatives Director.

Position has the flexibility to telecommute within the U.S.


  • Develop and support change leadership and communication strategies, plans, and content needed to enable successful delivery and execution of services and initiatives

  • Work with and influence individuals at all levels of the organization to drive change; support and engage senior leaders, coach managers, supervisors and project teams, evaluate and ensure stakeholder readiness and adoption

  • Support and advise business leaders, HR leaders, and managers on their role in effective internal communications

  • Create and manage a master HR calendar that includes all activities within HR and DCSA that require change leadership and communication support

  • Lead and/or support communication efforts, including communication plans, develop executive presentations, write key messages and communications

  • Lead project management activities by creating project charters, timelines, and workplans and tracking progress accordingly

  • Support training where needed including training assessments and design/development of training materials

  • Support organizational effectiveness efforts including org design and definition of roles and responsibilities

  • Assist in designing programs to educate the business and HR around change leadership, in particular as a tool to increase organizational agility and the development of a Change Leadership resource center for HR which includes Communications, Training, and Stakeholder Management focus areas

The OE Strategic Initiatives Manager will be proactive, results-oriented, and able to:

  • Build relationships; effectively promote ideas and influence leadership behavior through strong collaboration

  • Effectively coach and influence leaders and managers across the organization

  • Develop and deliver sound strategies and activities to support change leadership and communications

  • Scope and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, from inception to completion

  • Identify critical organizational issues and root causes; provide objective, practical, data-driven solutions that are sustainable

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 8+ years of Organization Development (OD)/Organizational Effectiveness (OE), Change Leadership, Communications, Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational (IO) Psychology and/or applicable business experience

  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Visio, Excel and Word

  • Ability to lead formal change strategy, plans and activities for large, complex transformation programs required with a solid understanding of how people react to change and the change process

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Excellent active listening skills and ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to write clear, effective communications to a variety of audiences

  • Deep experience presenting to stakeholders, using verbal and written communications

  • Proven ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, negotiating and influencing skills

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in highly ambiguous situations where the organization is in continuous change

  • Must be a team player, able to effectively and collaboratively work with and through others, at all levels in the organization

  • Strong analytical & problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree with 5-8 years of Organizational Development (OD)/Organization Effectiveness (OE), Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational (IO) Psychology and/or applicable business experience

  • Proficient in Visio
