Job Summary

This candidate will be part of the network team who monitors switches, routers, and other network systems for health and accessibility for all the East Coast Combined Tactical Training Ranges. The ideal candidate would be able to work in a geographically dispersed team environment responsible for the management of diverse, complex, and ever changing DoD networks.

He or she will be part of the networking team who maintains all IP inter-site, range, building, and local connections. It is expected they will be able to build, update, troubleshoot, and upgrade Cisco and other network devices. Further the technician should understand how to install and maintain both copper and fiber optic network infrastructures.

On a daily basis the candidate will monitor the health and efficiency of both the classified and unclassified network primarily with Solarwinds Orion Network Performance Monitor. They will be responsible to apply STIGS and other updates as required by Department of Defense, Department of Navy (DoN) directives, and best practice.

Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions, operational difficulties, and re mediate vulnerabilities and effectively communicate these issues and solutions to their team members and customers who depend on the network services.

Working with engineering, operations, server, and communications, and cyber security staffs, he or she will also identify new efficiencies and design implementation models. It is expected that that they will be able to conduct themselves professionally in meetings with the customer and other contractors.

The candidate will be expected to maintain system documentation, network drawings, procedures, and policies. Finally, the position requires ability to participate in an on-call rotation (outside normal working hours and on weekends) to support the network infrastructure, address critical outages, and stand watch for critical missions.

Minimum Requirements

Requires Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of Network Administration experience or at least 8 years of network administration in combination with IT Training, IT Certifications and progressively relevant work experience:

• Cisco Network Administration

• Information Technology Management.

Minimum Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the following areas:

• IT System implementation and maintenance of, network interfaces and associated equipment particularly in the Cisco family of hardware

• Experience configuring systems to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security

• LAN level Network Administration of Layer 3 Routers, switches, VLAN Configuration, Wireless Bridges

• Communications (fiber-optic, multiplexer) equipment

• Configuration of DS3 and T1 circuits.

Minimum Position Specific Training Required

• Must maintain DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-II

• Documented formal training in Cisco systems to a least the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) level

Requires a current Secret Security Clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.
