Maintain, repair, and improve RF, telephone, voice distribution, and TCP/IP network communication systems and their associated equipment. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of RF system diagnostics and circuits, uses complex test instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, communication analyzers, and computer analytical equipment.
Provides technical guidance and on-the-job-training to lower-level technicians. Ensures all personal are assigned to task for which they are qualified. Identifies training requirements to training specialist and monitors training accomplishment. Interfaces with other personal outside of the communications department to ensure coordination of requirements, services, and tasking. Interfaces with work center supervisor to prioritize requirements, and tasking. They will support special tests, evaluations, equipment relocations, and new equipment installations as required along with performing organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment. Updates documentation to record new equipment installed, new sites, and changes to communications system configurations.
Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of equipment and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
Documents maintenance actions in IEMS and configuration changes in CCMS.
Acts as the Communications Department Lead in absence of the Communications Department Lead.
Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy "C" School or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance or Computer Networking Systems
Five years’ experience in the following areas:
Digital/analog signal processing;
Communications equipment (VHF, UHF, microwave, fiber-optic);
Digital computer systems;
RF signal processing;
Primary and secondary power equipment;
Must have and maintain a current Secret-level security clearance.
Must maintain Safety at Heights climber certification. (Within 6 months of hire date)
Must maintain COMSEC certification. (Within 6 months of hire date)
Must possess a valid state Driver’s License.
Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. (Within 6 months of hire date)
Must meet requirements of the DoD 8570 for IAT level II
