Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a SH&E Advisor to be based in our Virden, Manitoba location.

This position will report to the SH&E Lead and assigned to a defined geographic area of responsibility. The incumbent provides “hands on” and site level SH&E technical expertise. Seeks continuous improvement of all SH&E processes, maintaining a risk based approach to support a company culture that “all incidents can be prevented”. The incumbent must possess strong problem solving, interpersonal, project management and communication (oral & written) skills.

May include the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the SH&E Lead to develop strong SH&E professional skills.

  • Assists in the development of SH&E strategies and implements corporate initiatives focusing on safety.

  • Act as a resource providing SH&E support for line management and personnel within assigned area.

  • Develop/implement SH&E procedures for successful project completion.

  • Support, develop and deliver SH&E training.

  • Implement and communicate all necessary SH&E strategies within assigned area.

  • Conduct routine SH&E inspections (formal and non-formal) within assigned area of responsibility.

  • Monitors SH&E performance, data/statistical reporting and trends for possible impacts on SH&E performance.

  • Audit processes to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and consistency.

  • Work with SH&E lead and line management to develop an SH&E culture that truly believe in the goal that “all incidents can be prevented”.

  • Influences others through consistent model management: “walks the talk” philosophies, solid business fundamentals and sound ethics.

  • Challenges the way we do business, sees the big picture and keeps an eye on long-term success by turning safety challenges into meaningful direction.

  • Coach and mentor SH&E Advisors/Representatives.

  • Attend coordination/client meetings as directed by SH&E Lead.

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Certificate – Post secondary certification from an accredited college, university or technical institution in Environmental Health and Safety

  • Professional Designation: Required – CSO – Construction Safety Officer

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification

  • First Aid Certification

  • H2S Alive Certification


  • 1-3 years – In an industrial, maintenance and/or construction environment.

This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory drivers abstract for review
