About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Contracts Manager with experience in administering construction contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders (preferably for design-build Water/Wastewater projects). This would include all phases of planning, design, construction, commissioning & closeout. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Extensive reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of professional services (engineering, architecture, environmental, and other technical services) and construction related agreements
Working with a variety of contracts, including prime contracts, subcontracts, joint venture agreements, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements
The ability to work cooperatively with diverse group of professionals, including the company’s executives, attorneys, engineers, scientists and contracts staff, as well as the ability to work with attorneys for external clients and subcontractors, risk managers, project managers, procurement and contracts staff, and others
Demonstrate flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and priorities
Generate ideas, make recommendations & come to a consensus
Handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively and efficiently
Balance pursuit of good contract terms with reality of business demands
Demonstrate creativity in reaching agreement with clients and subcontractors
Assess risk related to contract/commercial terms and advises internal clients in developing risk management and mitigation plans
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Law or related field
10+ years of demonstrated contract experience with a major engineering / construction firm, or contractor in the areas of engineering and construction contracts
Well-developed communications skills; able to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis as it pertains to business and technical concerns to executive management, commercial and finance colleagues, technical colleagues and peers
Self-driven & resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groups
Excellent written and communication skills
Must possess a valid driver's license
15+ years of demonstrated contract experience with a major engineering / construction firm, or contractor in the areas of engineering and construction contracts
Experience dealing with Design Build contracts and claims
Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus but not a requirement
