Purpose and Scope:
To serve as an AEDC Operations Center Controller performing limited Command and Control (C2) duties; serve as central point of contact for maintaining situational awareness of Installation activities and notifying leadership; inform key personnel of significant events and submit Operational Reports (OPREP) to Higher Headquarters (HHQ) as required.
Work schedule includes a variety of shifts, weekends and holidays to cover 24/7/365 operations.
Perform selected Air Force Command Post functions as a “Command and Control (C2) Element”.
Make notifications to Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD) and Contractor personnel.
Provide support to test, technology, and maintenance activities that affect AEDC and assist in resolution of conflicts that occur in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of AEDC.
Responsible for centralized alerting and notification through Installation Notification Warning System (INWS) for disasters, emergencies, contingencies and for the recall of personnel.
Coordinate environmental spill response actions and logs event/action in the Arnold Spill Action Plan (ASAP).
Responsible for maintaining the Integrated Maintenance Scheduling System (IMSS) for current testing and resource requirements which includes; additions, deletions, and cancellations to the test testing schedule and the resource requirements (i.e. electricity, water, fuel, high pressure air, GN2, steam, natural gas, etc.) needed to support testing.
Update and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly resource requirements.
Accomplish Quick Reaction Checklists (QRC) notifications for emergencies, weather, testing deviations, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), incidents, mishaps, accidents, natural disasters or other events which may affect AEDC.
Monitor the Lightning Detection System, weather sites, and pass on weather advisories from the Operational Weather Squadron. Notify personnel of any severe weather that could affect the complex utilizing available Mass Notification Systems (MNS).
Monitor classified and unclassified computer systems to insure all correspondence from higher headquarters is received and responded to in a timely manner and relay required information on to the Complex Commander
Accomplish all Operational Reports (OPREPS) in accordance with AFI 10-206 “Operational Reporting”. Coordinate OPREPs with the Installation Commander, and up-channel reports to AFMC and Air Force Headquarters.
Perform recall procedures of base personnel and specialized teams during emergency response situations.
Prepare the Morning Report, shift change over documents, Integrated Schedules (IS) and Ops Center Display for next day’s testing.
Maintain a daily events log and monitor emergency phones, radios, and alarms systems.
Perform test of Duress Notification System with Protective Services personnel to verify functionality of system.
Monitor and utilize radio communications over Local Mobile Radio (LMR) Network. Monitor LMR Network for emergencies (Fire, Security, Forestry, Hazardous Waste, Environment, Waste Management, Safety, 911 Emergency, Base Operations, Emergency Operations, Roads and Grounds, etc.) and provide assistance and information as needed.
Generates or assists in writing urgent and emergency work orders and arranges for accomplishment of required actions.
Perform other related duties as required.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
The work environment requires the ability to cooperate, work in teams and work well with individuals at all levels of the company, the client, and outside users. The nature of the work requires the ability to communicate clearly. May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Use of personal transportation for travel within the AEDC area and company-provided transportation to other users’ facilities. Working odd shifts, weekends, and holidays is required. Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds.
Minimum of two (2) years of college or vocational training in a related and applicable discipline, plus two (2) years relevant and progressive experience. OR equivalent combination of education and relevant and progressive experience for a total of four (4) years.
Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of customers and Air Force officials. Working knowledge and experience in utilization of personal computers and automated systems. Must be willing to work a variety of odd shifts, weekends and holidays. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
Operations Center or Emergency Services Dispatcher experience (911/ Fire/EMS) is desirable. Experience in a related environment may be substituted.
