We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM's Rocky Mountain Area is actively seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to provide civil engineering and design services for large earth structures including dams, landfills, mining projects, and power projects in our Tucson, Arizona office. This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, and geologists all of which work together to conceive, permit, design and construct large projects. AECOM offers significant growth potential for the motivated individual. Individual development can occur in the areas of project management, client account management, marketing leadership, and business operations management.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide civil engineering and design services for large earth structures including dams, landfills, mining projects, and power projects

  • Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and floodplain mapping for various studies

  • Assist in design of stormwater management facilities including: pipelines, detention/retention ponds, and open channels

  • Perform and document calculations supporting the individual design elements

  • Perform civil design and calculations for flood control structures, including stormwater channels, dams, and levees

  • Assist with preparation of technical memoranda and design reports

  • Support the team in developing design criteria and overall design approach

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in civil engineering and site design

  • AutoCAD Civil3D experience

  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and related computer programs

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including technical and proposal writing

  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, and geologists

  • Experience in a broad field of civil engineering and knowledge of the reciprocal effects of the work upon other discipline

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic assessment of dams, and 2-D hydraulic modeling would be a plus

  • Engineer-in-training certification
