Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking to identify a qualified individual to lead and manage various Program Management opportunities in the PM/CM group for our Western Canadian operation that spans from Ontario to British Columbia. This key leadership and high-profile role on each opportunity presents an excellent career opportunity for the right individual.

The type and size of the programs will typically involve planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout of multiple projects totaling $100M+ in total capital cost. Experiences in governmental facilities, housing, commercial buildings, universities, elementary schools, healthcare and libraries are preferred over horizontal roadway and water infrastructure backgrounds.

The Program Manager (working closely and in concert with the internal and external clients, will serve in a key role directing day-to-day program management opportunities and will be instrumental to the successful growth, development, implementation and delivery of new opportunities. The Program Manager will organize and direct resources and all activities between the technical and administrative aspects of the program including planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, cash flow, QA/QC, risk analysis, document control and management information systems. The Program Manager will be required to balance and appropriately address the needs/concerns of all of the stakeholders impacted by this program, including but not limited to the client, public, local businesses, politicians, other agencies and the regulatory community.

The Program Manager will lead efforts, beginning at the planning phase, to develop a comprehensive program execution plan, implement community/public involvement and coordinate/communicate relevant program status/issues with regulatory agencies.

Other typical duties for the Program Manager include and are not limited to:

  • Lead business development strategies and initiatives both internally and externally on behalf of the PM/CM business line

  • Provide management services on behalf of a client’s capital improvement plan; services are typically very broad and often include non-traditional professional services such as inter-agency coordination and public relations, small contractor development programs, technology transfer, and sophisticated external reporting of program costs and schedule progress

  • Interact with senior government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant program matters often requiring coordination between organizations

  • Assess and manage risk on behalf of the client

  • Hire additional staff to complement program management teams

  • Provide oversight and direction to AECOM staff, client staff and subcontractors

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor

  • Be a role model by demonstrating and promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally

  • Assure soundness of project delivery approaches and provide quality assurance of project work plans, reports, and technical products

  • Collaborate with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments

In addition, the Program Manager will lead development and drive implementation of the necessary business processes, plans and procedures required to manage design and construction in a programmatic, process-driven manner. The Program Manager will direct design and construction management and oversight activities as well as supporting specialty contracts, vendor programs and stimulus projects.

The Program Manager will also work with the client in the selection of design, construction management and other consultants and will provide management oversight related to performance, schedule and cost for both design and construction management based on Key Performance Indicators.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or other related fields

  • 10+ years of relevant vertical construction system planning, program and project/construction management experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related experience

  • $100M+ program size capital improvement program experience

  • PMP or CCM certification

  • LEED accreditation a plus
