Job Summary

AECOM is hiring a qualifiedMachinistin support of Army Depot Augmentation - Tobyhanna, PA.

Machine Tool Operators perform primarily milling operations on state-or-the art Computer Numerical Controlled high speed milling machines. A wide variety of products are produced including components of the Night Vision Goggle Helmet Bracket Assemblies, and components of vehicle electronics installation kits. Manufactures parts and complete items of equipment from raw stock of different kinds of metals and metal alloys and other materials, and performs machining work required in the manufacture of castings, forgings, weldments and other fabrications.

Requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 40 pounds; however, hoists, handtrucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. Works inside in a well lighted, heated, ventilated shop that is usually noisy and dirty. There is a danger to skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal; possible skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds, and danger to the fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces and moving parts of machines. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have five years actual or recent related experience in General Machine Shop Mechanic Equipment.

  • Carries out assignments which require special adaption and extensions of the use of conventional machine tools and the use of specialized and nonconventional machine tools such as jig borers, jig grinders, hobbing machines, hob grinders, gear generators, computer numerically controlled (CNC) and numerically controlled (NC) machine tools. Independently plans and lays out work, sets up and operates machine tools, and performs bench and assembly work.

  • Knowledge and use of special tools / equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

  • Must have CNC High speed Milling set up and operating experience.

  • Will be required to have the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
