Job Summary

The Tampa Office Surface Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking a Stormwater Design Engineer for immediate employment in the Tampa, FL office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting and challenging projects. We provide services to FDOT, counties, municipalities and other transportation agencies. The successful candidate can look forward to roadway projects that include RRR, widening, reconstruction, arterials, interstates, managed lanes, and toll facilities (including Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build projects). The engineer will work under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, designing projects ranging from local arterial/collector roads to multilevel interchanges. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Meetings with clients and/or agencies to determine project specific design needs/criteria

  • Field visits to assess site conditions

  • Interdisciplinary coordination in the design of open and closed drainage systems, cross drains, stormwater management facilities

  • Design many include both permanent, and temporary drainage facilities

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and design criteria to carry out stormwater engineering tasks

  • Use of Microstation and/or AutoCAD to prepare construction plans

  • Preparation of engineering calculations, computer modeling, design documentation reports, permitting documents, and construction quantities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or appropriate equivalent

  • 2+ years of engineering experience in drainage/hydraulic/stormwater design with an increasing level of responsibility

  • Experience with CADD, Microsoft Office, and industry-standard hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software

  • Drainage design experience on FDOT projects

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Self motivation, high level of accuracy, and attention to detail is essential; able to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Works well in team environment as well as independently

  • Must posses a valid driver's license
