Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Railway Communications Engineer to join our rail team in Sydney as an Associate Director working on a variety of rail projects predominantly for our NSW clients but occasionally assisting other states and regions.

As a Rail Expert with the world's #1 ranked engineering design firm, you will be exposed to a range of projects and stakeholders providing you with an opportunity to apply your experience on major to mega rail projects.Current and recent projects include light rail, metro, passenger rail, freight and high speed rail.You will work efficiently in an autonomous environment as well as contributing as part of the wider Civil and Infrastructure and AECOM team.

Minimum Requirements

The role will include:

  • Checking and independent verification of communications designs.

  • Provide high quality communications design to the rail industry

  • Client relationships at the project and local market level.

  • Mentorship of a small team

  • Preparation of proposals, including formulation of project costs.

  • Responsibility for the delivery of projects and maintenance of project budgets

Preferred Qualifications

  • A proven track record in working on multidisciplinary rail projects

  • At least 15 years of rail communications design experience

  • Excellent knowledge and proven record of undertaking designs for:

  • Fibre optic and copper cable networks,

  • PCM, SDH, PDH, ATM, MPLS/IP, IP based transmission systems and networks

  • Microwave data links

  • Analogue UHF/VHF radio systems

  • TETRA, GRN, GSM-R and other digital trunked radio design experience

  • RF simulation modelling experience using specialised software packages

  • CCTV, Telephony (POTS and VoIP), Public Address, Passenger Information, Hearing Impaired Audio Loops, Fare Collection, Electronic Access, Help Points and other station systems
