About the Business Line

Water

We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

Our growing Water business is looking for a Geotechnical Dams Engineer to join our team in Sydney and to be a part of the broader Australian Dams Engineering. The role includes participation in a broad range of dam engineering design projects, specifically geotechnical investigations and embankment dam engineering, from concept development through to detailed design and construction support.

Experience in geotechnical investigation, engineering analysis and design of embankment dams is preferred but not essential. Typical dam engineering projects see you investigating and completing condition assessment of existing dams.

In this role you will be conducting dam safety reviews and risk assessments, scoping and undertaking geotechnical investigations, including interpretation of foundation conditions and characterising the engineering properties of foundation and construction material as well as completing concept design development for embankment dams (water storage), including tailings dams.

Youwill be responsible for:

  • Preparing project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures with guidance from more senior staff in the Dams Team.

  • Preparation and delivery of targeted investigation programs including being part of field

  • Providing input into project management tasks such as progress reports for clients

  • Self-monitoring workload against task budgets to assist the Project Manager to manage project budget.

  • Attending project meetings with Project Manager and client personnel to effectively understand the context of project requirements.

  • Assisting with the preparation of water engineering sector proposals and tenders

  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients

Minimum Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering (Essential)

  • Analytical experience including stability, settlement and deformation analysis

  • Design skills including options development and evaluation and embankment design (upgrade or new dams)

  • Basic to intermediate level knowledge of geotechnical software (i.e., Slope/W, Seep/W, gINT, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering (Essential)

  • Drivers licence (Essential)
