Job Summary

An exciting role has become available in our Sydney office for a solicitor with 6 - 8 years PAE to join our legal team. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel you will be a critical part of a collegial, growing corporate legal team. The role will be focused on negotiating transactions for a large multinational engineering consultancy firm, managing disputes, providing ad-hoc legal advice and handling general corporate matters. There is also the potential to manage a team of lawyers located in the Sydney office.

AECOM works on some of the largest and most significant infrastructure projects around Australia and globally, including design and construct projects, alliances and public private partnerships. As a Corporate Counsel in the Southern legal team, you will assume an integral role in AECOM delivering these projects and achieving its corporate goals.

You will be working with driven professionals across various end-markets who are industry leaders and passionate about being a part of a company that is dedicated to delivering a better world.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing request for tender and expression of interest documentation

  • Advising on the acceptability of proposed contract terms

  • Managing and negotiating with external clients and vendors regarding contractual, legal and commercial issues, including: tenders; pre-signing negotiations; drafting commercial and legal documents and amendments to such documents; life-of-contract events

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures

  • Reviewing contract conditions and participating in the preparation of commercial strategies for key proposals

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in law

  • Admission to practice in NSW (or eligibility for such)

  • Minimum 6 - 8 years of post-admission experience

  • Demonstrated track record of adding value to a diverse and dynamic business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a top tier law firm and/or in-house experience in a multinational consultant or contractor will be viewed favourably
