Job Summary

The primary objective of Climate Ready is to help select Pacific Island countries (PICs) to achieve their climate change adaptation goals by assisting them to develop and implement climate action policies and plans in a manner that is country-driven, coordinated, inclusive and equitable. The ultimate outcome of Climate Ready will be tangible progress toward the implementation of an increased number of adaptation interventions that are aligned with PICs’ National Adaptation Plans so that these countries become more resilient.

The Chief-of-Party (COP) will be principally in charge of overall project management, technical oversight and ensuring synergies across READY components. The COP must possess the intellectual, communications, leadership, and managerial skills necessary to develop, articulate and implement a strategic vision for READY.

Minimum Requirements

  • A master’s degree in political economy, climate change policy and finance, natural resources management, environmental policy, public finance, public administration, or related fields;

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience and expertise to successfully achieve meaningful and sustainable results in climate change adaptation policy and finance;

  • Technical expertise in climate change adaptation finance and policy;

  • Extensive and substantive experience working with counterparts at various levels of government, as well as with non-government organizations (including private sector associations/organizations);

  • Experience managing international development assistance projects;

  • Strong technical expertise, superb management skills, and exceptional writing and communications skills in English are essential for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • USAID prefers an American Citizen for the COP position.
