About the Business Line

Water

We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our well-established and experienced Water and Wastewater Engineering team in our centrally located Teesside office. As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in infrastructure, wastewater and water engineering, flood risk and water sensitive design.

Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage designs and design teams and deliver infrastructure, wastewater and water projects including associated civil engineering inputs.

  • Deliver detailed designs in a challenging and rewarding environment.

  • Take the role of technical lead on projects.

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team to complete technical project delivery to programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • Ability to manage your team’s workload to programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • Mentor team members to promote their technical and professional development.

  • Technical delivery and checking of work.

  • Produce and check client proposals.

  • Client, contractor and supply chain management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Significant experience within a civil engineering capacity.

  • Significant and relevant experience of working within a Senior or Principal Engineer position on relevant projects.

  • Core technical skills relevant to the water industry particularly including pump and pipeline hydraulics, wastewater treatment, water treatment, civil engineering design, and an understanding of other engineering disciplines.

  • Experience of outfall design in the marine environment would a distinct advantage.

  • Significant understanding of construction and operational requirements within design.

  • Significant understanding of the application, benefits and limitations of a wide range of solutions to problems.

  • Ability to produce client proposals, manage teams and provide mentorship to your team members.

  • Well networked having previous experience of water and waste water projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer with CIWEM or the ICE.

  • Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant field.
