Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Consulting Engineer to be based in our St. Louis, MO location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Works with project personnel to build and maintain client relations.

  • Works with business development in developing proposals and presenting company capabilities to enhance success in meeting new business objectives.

  • Complies with company's safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Directs preparation of engineering and design guides and procedures.

  • Establishes and implements technical policies and procedures.

  • Institutes design review teams to ensure quality of engineering conformance with project definition and regulatory requirements.

  • Provides technical guidance to specific discipline.

  • Works with Project Engineering Managers in establishing and implementing technical project requirements, preparation of discipline work plans and implementing the engineering/purchasing schedules and cost estimates.

  • Assists in establishing project definition, economic evaluation factors, preparation of major specifications, purchase evaluation technical studies and critical engineering decisions.

  • Documents and analyzes engineering practices, manpower expenditures and costs related to the experience and performance of the region/office projects.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum of 16 years professional experience with at least 5 years in supervisory capacity.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within the mechanical discipline and in the business development concepts and methods, able to lead the proposal process.

  • Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention and storage of calculations within the discipline.

  • Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors such as physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within mechanical engineering.

  • Understands factors outside mechanical engineering that impact specific problems.

  • Fully understands the use of requisition and the role of materials management.

  • Reviews and advises purchase and subcontracts.

  • Assists and monitors manpower development, man-hour and labor cost requirement for a project to aid in evaluating budget limitations.

  • Leads estimating tasks and performs material a take offs for a specific discipline.

  • Advance level of knowledge of material costs, equipment and material lists and can instruct others in understanding their use and requirements.

  • Advanced level of cost analysis and forecasting.

  • Fully understands plans and leads the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.

  • Fully in project change control process and identified potential change.

  • Fully versed with and can check and review the work sequence, general content and methods used to generate specifications for purchase of materials, equipment, systems, services or construction within mechanical engineering.

  • Maximizes the integration of all project functional requirements into a complete project plan.

  • Assists training and mentoring/coaching other team members.

  • Can develop training programs within area of expertise.

  • Develops, designs, and conducts training programs within the area of expertise.

  • Develops, designs and conducts training programs.

  • Must have direct experience in the food/beverage/brewing industries with a preference toward owner-side experience.
